If the roster can contend, yes. Seasons have been lost because teams treated backup quarterback as optional.

Deadline quarterback rumor passes the smell test

A backup quarterback with starting experience is connected to two teams after injuries. The selling club has a rookie it wants to elevate, so the roster logic works. The problem is compensation: people are floating a fourth-round pick, which seems high for someone entering the final contract year. My guess is a conditional sixth that becomes a fifth with playoff snaps. That is speculation, not reporting. Would you pay it?
