Baseball's new ace archetype: six innings is enough

Fans still use complete games as shorthand for greatness, but the modern ace is asked to dominate six innings and hand a lead to rested power arms. That is a different job, not necessarily an easier one. Hitters see velocity and specialized shapes all night, while starters are pushed near maximum effort from pitch one. Can a pitcher be a true workhorse at 175 innings now? I think yes.
