Basketball handles this better because positions cannot hide from the ball. Football value is structurally lopsided.

Then rename it Best Quarterback. Valuable should leave room for an extraordinary season at another position.

The best receiver is not automatically the MVP

A receiver can dominate his position and still be less valuable than an excellent quarterback having a less spectacular season. That is not disrespect; it is the geometry of the sport. Quarterbacks touch every offensive snap and shape protection, coverage, and play selection. If people want a best-player award, create one. But an MVP discussion that ignores positional leverage is just ranking highlights with a trophy attached.
