Team Spirit swept Team Yandex 3-0 in the PARI Universe final, and one detail from the series caught my attention. Yatoro played Anti-Mage in game one, Outworld Destroyer in game two and Clinkz in game three. That's three very different carries, and Yandex couldn't find an answer to any of them.
The Outworld Destroyer performance was particularly impressive. Yatoro finished the second game with 30 kills, four deaths and 14 assists. He also delivered a massive 128,354 hero damage in a game that lasted almost 73 minutes.
Here's what I'd take away from that series. Spending several bans trying to remove Yatoro's favorite heroes might not accomplish much when he can switch roles within the carry position and still produce at an elite level.
I'd be looking much more closely at the players around him. Disrupt his supports, contest the space he needs to farm and make Spirit work harder to protect him during team fights. If Yatoro can't get comfortable on the map, even a talented carry has problems.
Of course, that's easier said than done. Team Spirit's coordination is a major part of the problem for opponents. Their supports and offlaner can create the space Yatoro needs, and simply winning the early lanes won't necessarily stop him from becoming a threat later.
Yandex tried to deal with his hero pool. Spirit responded with three different carries and three victories.
If you were preparing to face Team Spirit, would you spend your bans targeting Yatoro's hero pool, or would you concentrate on disrupting the supports and taking away the space that makes him so dangerous?
